     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire in 1348.1 In 1359 he accompanied King Edward III's invasion of France.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire in 1363.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire in 1365.2

     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire in 1383.1 In 1386 he was licensed to enlarge the park at Hoghton following park's creation.1 He held the office of Chief Steward of Lancashire between 1399 and 1402.2 He was Commissioner of Array for defence against Scots in 1400.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire in 1402.2 He was he was founder of Ribchester Chantry in 1406.2
