Sir John Brereton was the son of George Brereton and Sybil Arderne.2 He married Hon. Elizabeth Brabazon, daughter of Edward Brabazon, 1st Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee and Mary Smythe.1 He died on 1 October 1629.1
He was benefactor of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.1 He held the office of King's Serjeant.1 He gained the rank of Colonel of Cavalry in 1573 in the Ireland.1
