     Sir Edward Butler, 1st Viscount Galmoye was the son of Piers FitzThomas Butler and Hon. Catherine Fleming.2 He married Hon. Anne Butler, daughter of Edmund Butler, 2nd Viscount Mountgarret and Grizel FitzPatrick.1 He died in 1653.1
     He was appointed Knight on 1 November 1619.1 He held the office of Sheriff of County Kilkenny in 1640.1 In 1646 he attended the Confederation of Kilkenny.1 He was created 1st Viscount Galmoye, in co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 16 May 1646.1 He lived at Galmoy Castle, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.1

     Hon. Piers Butler was the son of Sir Edward Butler, 1st Viscount Galmoye and Hon. Anne Butler.2,1 He married Hon. Margaret Netterville, daughter of Nicolas Netterville, 1st Viscount Netterville and Eleanor Bathe.1 He died in 1650, 'was killed in cold blood and after quarter' by Captain William Bolton.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel of Dragoons.1 At Lambstown, County Wexford, IrelandG, He was taken prisoner.1 He was also known as Pierce Butler.3 He lived at Barrowmount, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.1
