     James D'Arcy was born on 29 March 1880.2 He was the son of Hyacinth D'Arcy and Louisa Alicia Brown.2 He married Moira Jane Grattan-Bellew, daughter of Sir Henry Christopher Grattan-Bellew, 3rd Bt. and Lady Sophia Maria Elizabeth Forbes, on 8 January 1920.2 He died on 12 May 1958 at age 78.2
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.2 He was educated at Clongowes Wood College, S.J., Clane, County Kildare, IrelandG.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Galway in 1910.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Connaught Rangers.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Galway in 1915.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Galway in 1921.2 He lived at New Forest, County Galway, IrelandG.2
