     Lt.-Col. Philip Homan Eyre was born on 15 August 1832.1 He was the son of Richard Eyre and Eleanor Baldwin.2 He married Lucy Catherine Louisa Clarke, daughter of William Clarke, on 14 August 1873.1 He died on 10 February 1885 at age 52 at KirbekanG, killed in command of his regiment.1
     He fought in the Crimean War.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1 He fought in the Nile Expedition.1 He fought in the Egyptian War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 38th Foot.1
