     Sir Stephen Rice was born in 1637.2 He was the son of James Rice and Phillis Fanning. He married Mary FitzGerald, daughter of Thomas FitzGerald and Mabel Browne, between 1680 and 1682.1 He died on 16 February 1714/15.3
     He held the office of Chief Baron of the Exchequer.1 He lived at Limerick, County Limerick, IrelandG.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He was appointed Knight in 1687.2

     He was Deputy Governor of Tangier in 1663.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1663 in the Irish Regiment of Tangier.1 He held the office of Governor of Yarmouth in 1672.1

     William Wavell Wakefield, 1st Baron Wakefield of Kendal was born on 10 March 1898.1 He was the son of Roger William Wakefield and Ethel Mary Knott.1,3 He married Rowena Doris Lewis, daughter of Llewellyn Lewis, on 19 November 1919.4 He died in 1983.4
     William Wavell Wakefield, 1st Baron Wakefield of Kendal usually went by his middle name of Wavell.1 He was educated at Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England.4 He fought in the First World War.4 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Naval Air Service.4 He gained the rank of officer in 1918 in the Royal Air Force.4 He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1923 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)4 He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1927 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Swindon between 1935 and 1945.4 He was Director of Air Traffic Command between 1942 and 1944.4 He was appointed Knight in 1944.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Marylebone between 1945 and 1963.4 He was chairman of Parliamentary and Scientific Committee between 1952 and 1955.4 He was created 1st Baron Wakefield of Kendal, of Kendal, co. Westmorland [U.K.] on 15 November 1963.1 On his death his barony expired.4
