     Sir William Ramsay de Dalwolsy is the son of William de Ramsay.1
     In 1296 he sigend one of the Ragman Rolls (an oath of loyalty to King Edward I of England.)1 In 1320 he signed the letter to the Pope asserting the independence of Scotland.1

     Sir Alexander Ramsay was the son of Sir William Ramsay de Dalwolsy.1 He died after 20 May 1342 at Hermitage CastleG, starved to death.1
     He held the office of Sheriff of Teviotdale.1 He fought in the Battle of Borough Muir, one of the Regent's chief commanders.1 He held the office of Constable of Roxburghe Castle.1 He held the office of Warden of the Middle March.1 He fought in the Capture of Leuchars and St. Andrew's Castles in 1336.1 He fought in the Capture of Roxburghe Castle in 1342.1 On 20 May 1342 he was captured by Sir William Douglas.1
