     Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey was born on 7 February 1850.¹ He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh.² He married Augusta Burtchaell, daughter of John Burtchaell, on 28 November 1871.¹ He died on 11 May 1927 at age 77.¹
     He was commissioned in 1870 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 13th Light Infantry.¹ He was commanding officer of the 2nd Somerset Light Infantry in 1898.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.¹ He was commanding officer of the 13th Regiment District in 1902.¹ He retired from the military in 1907, with the rank of Colonel.¹

     John Burtchaell lived at Carbally, County Clare, Ireland^G.¹

     Augusta Burtchaell was the daughter of John Burtchaell.² She married Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh, on 28 November 1871.¹ She died on 17 December 1933.¹
     She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Clare.¹ From 28 November 1871, her married name became Gallwey.

     Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Joseph Gallwey was born on 14 April 1852.¹ He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh.² He married Maud Margaret Howard Gifford, daughter of Captain John Winter James Gifford, on 22 June 1901.¹ He died on 25 February 1933 at age 80, without issue.¹
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Royal University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He graduated from Royal University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.)¹ He fought in the Egyptian Campaign, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.¹ He was awarded the Order of Medjidie in 1895 3rd class.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1896.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1898 and 1901, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1900.¹ He was PMO of the Aldershot Command between 1906 and 1911.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was DDMS of the Aldershot Command in 1914.¹ He was DMS of the Home Forces in 1916.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by National University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, in 1918.¹ He was Colonel-Commandant of the Royal Army Medical Corps.¹

     Captain John Winter James Gifford was Honorary Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Lancers.¹

     Maud Margaret Howard Gifford was the daughter of Captain John Winter James Gifford.² She married, firstly, Captain D. W. Duff Gordon before 1901.¹ She married, secondly, Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Joseph Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh, on 22 June 1901.¹ She died on 11 June 1934.¹
     From before 1901, her married name became Duff Gordon.¹ From 22 June 1901, her married name became Gallwey.
