Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey1

     Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey was born on 7 February 1850.1 He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh.2 He married Augusta Burtchaell, daughter of John Burtchaell, on 28 November 1871.1 He died on 11 May 1927 at age 77.1
     He was commissioned in 1870 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 13th Light Infantry.1 He was commanding officer of the 2nd Somerset Light Infantry in 1898.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.1 He was commanding officer of the 13th Regiment District in 1902.1 He retired from the military in 1907, with the rank of Colonel.1

     Augusta Burtchaell was the daughter of John Burtchaell.2 She married Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh, on 28 November 1871.1 She died on 17 December 1933.1
     She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Clare.1 From 28 November 1871, her married name became Gallwey.

Henry Gallwey1

     Henry Gallwey was born on 8 December 1881.1 He was the son of Colonel Edmond Joseph Gallwey and Augusta Burtchaell.2 He died on 4 July 1900 at age 18 at South AfricaG, on active service, unmarried.1
     He fought in the Boer War.1

Henry Joseph Gallwey1

     Henry Joseph Gallwey was born on 24 February 1851.1 He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh.2 He married Katherine Power, daughter of Patrick Mahon Power, on 20 August 1903.1 He died on 27 June 1912 at age 61, without issue.1
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He lived at Corballymore, County Waterford, IrelandG.1

     Katherine Power was the daughter of Patrick Mahon Power.2 She married Henry Joseph Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh, on 20 August 1903.1 She died on 21 February 1938.1

     Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Joseph Gallwey was born on 14 April 1852.1 He was the son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh.2 He married Maud Margaret Howard Gifford, daughter of Captain John Winter James Gifford, on 22 June 1901.1 He died on 25 February 1933 at age 80, without issue.1
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Royal University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He graduated from Royal University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.)1 He fought in the Egyptian Campaign, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He was awarded the Order of Medjidie in 1895 3rd class.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1896.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1898 and 1901, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1900.1 He was PMO of the Aldershot Command between 1906 and 1911.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was DDMS of the Aldershot Command in 1914.1 He was DMS of the Home Forces in 1916.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by National University of Ireland, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1918.1 He was Colonel-Commandant of the Royal Army Medical Corps.1

     Maud Margaret Howard Gifford was the daughter of Captain John Winter James Gifford.2 She married, firstly, Captain D. W. Duff Gordon before 1901.1 She married, secondly, Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Joseph Gallwey, son of Henry Gallwey and Maria Walsh, on 22 June 1901.1 She died on 11 June 1934.1
     From before 1901, her married name became Duff Gordon.1 From 22 June 1901, her married name became Gallwey.
