     George Durie of Rossend, 1st of Craigluscar was born on 20 June 1494.1 He was the son of John Durie of Durie and Janet Beaton.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Bruce.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Sybbald in 1538.1 He died in 1575, illegitimately:.1
     He held the office of Abbot of Abbotshall, Kirkcaldy.1 He held the office of Archdeacon of St. Andrews.1 He was Abbot of the Convent of Dunfermline between 1530 and 1561.1 He was Perpetual Commendator of Dunfermline.1 He held the office of Extraordinary Lord on 2 July 1541.1 Lord of Council and Session.1 He held the office of Keeper of the Privy Purse in 1554.1 In 1571 he was a friend of Mary Queen of Scots.1

     He was He was exiled for attending a General Assembly of the Church at Aberdeen, which had been prohibited by the King and the Privy Council.1 He was the Minister at Anstruther, Fife, ScotlandG.1
