     Griffith Rice was born in 1664.1 He was the son of Walter Rice and Elizabeth Deere.3 He married, secondly, Eliza Morgan, daughter of John Morgan.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Hoby, daughter of Philip Hoby, on 28 August 1690.1 He died on 27 September 1729.1
     He held the office of High Sheriff of Carmarthenshire in 1694.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthenshire between 1701 and 1710.1 He lived at Newton, Carmarthenshire, WalesG.1

     Catherine Hoby was the daughter of Philip Hoby.1 She married Griffith Rice, son of Walter Rice and Elizabeth Deere, on 28 August 1690.1 She died on 4 May 1717.1
     From 28 August 1690, her married name became Rice.
