     Pierce Edmond O'Brien Butler was born on 12 January 1877.1 He was the son of Major Pierce O'Brien Butler and Marcella Hynes.1 He died on 15 January 1902 at age 25 at Wyndberg, South AfricaG, while on active service.1
     Between 1897 and 1900 he played rugby for Ireland.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 4 March 1900 in the Inniskilling Fusiliers.1

     Charles Paget O'Brien Butler was born on 18 July 1881 at 21 Crosthwaite Park West, Kingstown, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Major Pierce O'Brien Butler and Marcella Hynes.1 He married Winifred Mary O'Brien, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Joseph O'Brien, on 18 October 1908.1 He died on 1 November 1914 at age 33, from wounds received in action, while trying to rescue wounded comrades.1 He was buried at Bailleul, FranceG.1
     Charles Paget O'Brien Butler usually went by his middle name of Paget.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1907 in the Royal Army Medcal Corps.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1911.1 He was an amateur jockey, finishing 5th in the Grand National in 1913.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1
