     Eleanor Mary Furness was born on 29 August 1904.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Stephen Wilson Furness, 1st Bt. and Eleanor Forster.² She died in 1989.¹

     Sir Christopher Furness, 2nd Bt. was born on 18 October 1900.¹ He was the son of Sir Stephen Wilson Furness, 1st Bt. and Eleanor Forster.² He married Violet Flower Chipchase Roberts, daughter of Lt.-Col. Gerard Chipchase Roberts, on 8 January 1930.¹ He died on 21 June 1974 at age 73.¹
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Furness, of Tunstall Grange, West Hartlepool, co. Durham [U.K., 1913] on 6 September 1914.¹ He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1940 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.¹
