     Maj.-Gen. Alexander John Forsyth Reid was born on 21 August 1846 at Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of William Reid and Elizabeth Mary Scott.1 He married Alexandra Catharine Dyce Stewart, daughter of Sir David Stewart and Margaret Dyce Brown, in 1908.1 He died on 4 September 1913 at age 67 at Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
