     Reverend William Tennant was born in 1758.1 He was the son of John Tennant and Margaret McClure.2 He died in 1813, unmarried.1
     He was Minister of the Forces, India.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He wrote the book Indian Recreations, published 1803, 3 volumes.1

     Charles Tennant was born on 3 May 1768 at Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of John Tennant and Margaret McClure.3 He married Margaret Wilson on 17 October 1795 at Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1,2 He died on 1 October 1838 at age 70 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1,2
     He was a scientist and manufacturer, and was the discoverer of bleaching powder.1,2 He lived at St. Rollox, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1
