     He held the office of Crowner of Caithness, Lord-Lieutenant.1 Magnus Gun also went by the nick-name of Magnus 'am Bràisdeach Mor' (or in English, ‘big broochy'), from the brooch or buckle of office he wore.1

     First Chief to adopt the patronymic ‘Mackeamish.1' William Gun of Kilearnan, 1st Mackeamish also went by the nick-name of William 'mac Sheumais mhic Crunar'.1 Before 1517 he settled in Kilearnan.1 He was living in 1525.1
