     Sir George William Gunning, 5th Bt. was born on 10 August 1828.1 He was the son of Reverend Sir Henry John Gunning, 4th Bt. and Mary Catherine Cartwright.2 He married Isabella Mary Frances Charlotte Chester-Master, daughter of Colonel William Chester-Master, on 15 May 1851.1 He died on 21 October 1903 at age 75.1
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the 4th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Gunning, of Eltham, co. Kent [G.B., 1778] on 30 June 1885.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northamptonshire.1

     Isabella Mary Frances Charlotte Chester-Master was the daughter of Colonel William Chester-Master.2 She married Sir George William Gunning, 5th Bt., son of Reverend Sir Henry John Gunning, 4th Bt. and Mary Catherine Cartwright, on 15 May 1851.1 She died on 12 May 1910.1
     From 15 May 1851, her married name became Gunning.

Robert Henry Gunning was born on 17 July 1852.1 He was the son of Sir George William Gunning, 5th Bt. and Isabella Mary Frances Charlotte Chester-Master.2 He married Fanny Julia Dawkins, daughter of Clinton George Augustus Dawkins and Marianne Jane Robarts, on 31 July 1880.1 He died on 20 October 1899 at age 47 at Talana, South AfricaG, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1899.1

     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Gunning, of Eltham, co. Kent [G.B., 1778] on 21 October 1903.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northamptonshire.1
