Sir John Hay of Alderston, 1st Bt.1

     Sir John Hay of Alderston, 1st Bt. was the son of Thomas Hay of Alderston and Hermiston and Anna Gibson.1 He married Catherine Suttie, daughter of Sir George Suttie of Balgone, 1st Bt. and Marion Elizabeth Semple, on 27 April 1693.1 He died in 1706.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Hay, of Alderston, East Lothian [Nova Scotia] on 22 February 1702/3, with special remainder to his heirs male forever.1

     Catherine Suttie is the daughter of Sir George Suttie of Balgone, 1st Bt. and Marion Elizabeth Semple.2 She married Sir John Hay of Alderston, 1st Bt., son of Thomas Hay of Alderston and Hermiston and Anna Gibson, on 27 April 1693.1

Sir George Hay-Makdougall of Alderston, 3rd Bt.1

     Sir George Hay-Makdougall of Alderston, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir John Hay of Alderston, 1st Bt. and Catherine Suttie.1 He married Barbara Makdougall, daughter of Henry Makdougall, 14th of Makerstoun and Anne Scott.1 He died on 24 February 1777.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Scots Greys.1 He was given the name of George Hay at birth.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Hay, of Alderston, East Lothian [N.S., 1703] on 26 November 1769.1

     Sir Henry Hay-Makdougall of Alderston, 4th Bt. was born circa 1750.1 He was the son of Sir George Hay-Makdougall of Alderston, 3rd Bt. and Barbara Makdougall.1 He married Isabella Douglas, daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir James Douglas, 1st Bt. and Helen Brisbane, on 11 May 1782.1 He died on 13 April 1825.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Hay, of Alderston, East Lothian [N.S., 1703] on 24 February 1777.1
