     William Henderson was born in 1518.2 He was the son of George Henderson, 2nd of Fordell and Katherine Adamson.3 He and Elizabeth Scott obtained a marriage license on 23 November 1543.1 He died on 10 September 1547 at Pinkie, Midlothian, ScotlandG, killed in action.1
     On 23 March 1546 he was granted the hereditary Provostship of Inverkeithing, but never took up the office.1 He fought in the Battle of Pinkie on 10 September 1547.1

     James Henderson, 3rd of Fordell was born circa 1544.2 He was the son of William Henderson and Elizabeth Scott.3 He married Jean Murray, daughter of Sir William Murray, 10th of Tullibardine and Katherine Campbell.1 He died between 1610 and 1612.1
     In 1565 he was excused by Queen Mary and Lord Darnley from attending their army ‘ost' (assembly of landowners and their followers summoned by the sovereign(s) for military service), because of his minority, and from attending the wars all his life for the good service of his predecessors.1 In 1566 he was granted the hereditary Provostship of Inverkeithing.1
