     Eleanor Isabella Macdowall was born on 14 October 1848.1 She was the daughter of Henry Macdowall, 23rd of Garthland and Isabella Fergus Dennistoun.2 She married Sir William Ingilby, 3rd Bt., son of Rev. Sir Henry John Ingilby, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Macdowall, on 4 February 1874.3 She died on 13 May 1923 at age 74.3
     From 4 February 1874, her married name became Ingilby.

     Sir William Ingilby, 3rd Bt. was born on 13 December 1829.2 He was the son of Rev. Sir Henry John Ingilby, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Macdowall.3 He married Eleanor Isabella Macdowall, daughter of Henry Macdowall, 23rd of Garthland and Isabella Fergus Dennistoun, on 4 February 1874.2 He died on 17 December 1918 at age 89.3
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Bengal Artillery.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Ingilby, of Ripley, in the West Riding of the County of York [U.K., 1866] on 5 December 1911.1

     Anna Dennistoun Macdowall was born on 20 September 1851.1 She was the daughter of Henry Macdowall, 23rd of Garthland and Isabella Fergus Dennistoun.2 She married John Henry Stirling on 3 November 1886.1
     From 3 November 1886, her married name became Stirling.

Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 6th Bt.1

     Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 6th Bt. was born on 2 October 1805.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 5th Bt. and Catharine Fordyce.2 He married Helenora Shaw-Stewart, daughter of Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart of Greenock and Blackhall, 5th Bt. and Catharine Maxwell, on 10 June 1833.3 He died on 29 March 1877 at age 71.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 14th Light Dragoons.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Maxwell, of Monreith, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1681] on 22 August 1838.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Galloway Rifles Militia.2

     Eleanora Louisa Maxwell was the daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 6th Bt. and Helenora Shaw-Stewart.2,3 She married Henry Macdowall, 24th of Garthland, son of Henry Macdowall, 23rd of Garthland and Isabella Fergus Dennistoun, on 4 February 1885.1 She died on 19 March 1908, without issue.1
     From 4 February 1885, her married name became Macdowall.

     From 12 August 1884, her married name became Macdowall.

Henry Charles Victor Macdowall, 26th of Garthland1

     Henry Charles Victor Macdowall, 26th of Garthland was born on 2 May 1891.1 He was the son of Day Hort Macdowall, 25th of Garthland and Alice Maude Mary Blanchard.2 He married Gladys Irene Pitts, daughter of Sidney John Pitts, on 19 April 1922.1 He died on 26 March 1947 at age 55.1
     He was educated at University School, Victoria, British Columbia, CanadaG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario, CanadaG.2 He fought in the First World War, and was recommended for the Victoria Cross (V.C.), and was a POW.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1914 in the 88th Fusiliers, 7th Battalion, 1st Canadian Expeditionary Force.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Captain in 1919 in the Canadian Scottish.2 He was a practising solicitor [Briritsh Columbia] in 1920.2 He sold Garthland House in 1935.1
