     George Sydenham Clarke, 1st and last Baron Sydenham of Combe was born on 4 July 1848.1 He was the son of Reverend Walter John Clarke and Maria Frances Mayor.1 He married, firstly, Caroline Emily Fellowes, daughter of General Peregrine Henry Fellowes and Caroline Elizabeth Forbes.1 He married, secondly, Phyllis Angela Rosamond Morant, daughter of George Morant, on 4 November 1910.1 He died on 7 February 1933 at age 84.1
