     Alfred Edward Webb-Johnson, 1st and last Baron Webb-Johnson was born on 4 September 1880.1 He was the son of Samuel Johnson and Julia Anne Webb.2 He married Cecilia Flora MacRae, daughter of D. G. MacRae, on 23 November 1911.1 He died on 28 May 1958 at age 77.1
     He was given the name of Alfred Edward Johnson at birth.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps.1 He was educated at High School, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Manchester University Medical School, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG, in 1903 with a Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)1 He graduated from Manchester University Medical School, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG, in 1903 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.) in 1906.1 He was Vice President and Consultant Surgeon at Middlesex Hospital, London, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 On 20 July 1915 his name was legally changed to Alfred Edward Webb-Johnson by Deed Poll.1 He was Hunterian Professor in 1917 at Royal College of Surgeons, London, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was appointed Knight of Justice, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.J.St.J.)1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1936.1 He was surgeon to Queen Mary in 1936.1 He was president of the Royal College of Surgeons between 1941 and 1949.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1942.1 He was created 1st Baronet Webb-Johnson, of Stoke-on-Trent, co. Stafford [U.K.] on 15 March 1945.2 He was created 1st Baron Webb-Johnson, of Stoke-on-Trent, co. Stafford [U.K.] on 22 June 1948.2 He was president of the Royal College of Medicine between 1950 and 1952.1
