     She held the office of Lady-in-Waiting to HRH The Princess Royal between 1923 and 1947.1 She was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1947.1 She was an Extra Lady-in-Waiting between 1948 and 1962.1

     Maj.-Gen. Walter Rupert Kenyon-Slaney was born on 25 September 1851.1 He was the son of William Kenyon-Slaney and Frances Catherine Slaney.2 He married Kate Helen Mary Schooles, daughter of H. J. Schooles, on 4 September 1878.1 He died on 26 March 1936 at age 84.1
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He fought in the Boer War in 1902, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Rifle Brigade.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914.1

     From 4 September 1878, her married name became Kenyon-Slaney.

     He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the King's African Rifles, German East Africa.1 He was District Commissioner, East Africa Protectorate in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Political Department.1
