     Allan Macdonald, 6th of Knoydart is the son of Angus Macdonald, 5th of Knoydart.2
     In 1587 he was on a roll of Highland landlords.1

     Circa 1610 Knoydart passed out of the family following an unsuccessful raid on Glengarry.1

     Allan Macdonald, 4th of Clanranald and Moidart was born circa 1437.2 He was the son of Ruari Macdonald, 3rd of Clanranald and Moidart and Margaret Macdonald.3 He married, secondly, Agnes Fraser, daughter of William Fraser of Teachers.1 He married, firstly, Florence Macdonald, daughter of Donald MacIan Macdonald of Ardnamurchan.1 He died in 1509, executed.1,2
     In 1491 he supported Angus, Master of the Isles, at the Battle of Bloody Bay, and Sir Alexander Macdonald of Lochalsh, nephew of the Lord of the Isles, in his invasion of Ross and Cromarty.1 In 1502 he was recognised by the Crown as next heir of John, 2nd Chief of Sleat, and received Sleat and other lands in Skye, in which he was suceeded by Donald Galloch, 3rd of Sleat.1 He was tried and executed before King James IV at Blair Atholl, for the part he had taken in a raid upon Atholl under Donald Dubh, son of Angus, Master of the Isles.1
