John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder1

     John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder was born in 1668.1 He was the son of Iain MacGregor in Glenlochy and Ann MacGregor.2 He married Catherine Campbell, daughter of Hugh Campbell of Lix.1 He died on 18 September 1744.1
     He took the alias Murray.1 He held the position of Chieftain of the Children of the Mist from.1 He was he quarrelled with Rob Royal MacGregor (of the Clan Dugal Ciar branch of the Gregarach), who ambushed him and 30 of his men in 1722.1 In 1726 it is said that at a meeting at Blair Atholl with the Grants in the MacGregors offered to take the name of Grant of Glencarnoch if John was recognised as Chief of the united Clan Alpin, to include all the Grants.1

Catherine Campbell1

     Catherine Campbell was the daughter of Hugh Campbell of Lix.2 She married John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder, son of Iain MacGregor in Glenlochy and Ann MacGregor.1 She died on 14 May 1774.1
     Her married name became Gregor.

Robert MacGregor of Glencarnoch1

     Robert MacGregor of Glencarnoch was the son of John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder and Catherine Campbell.2 He married, firstly, Christian MacGregor, daughter of John MacGregor of Roro.1 He married, secondly, Robina Cameron, daughter of Major Donald Cameron.2 He married, thirdly, Barbara Mary Drummond, daughter of William Drummond of Hawthornden.2 He died in October 1758.1
     (territorial) Baron Bailie of Balquhidder.1 He held the position of Chieftain of the Children of the Mist from.1 He fought in the Jacobite Uprising in 1745, as commander of a regiment of MacGregors.1 In September 1746 he was in hiding in the hills for a while before surrendering to General John Campbell (afterwards Argyll.)1 As a result of several former prisoners of his certifying his kindness to them, he was not executed but imprisoned for three years in Edinburgh Castle.1

     Christian MacGregor is the daughter of John MacGregor of Roro.2 She married Robert MacGregor of Glencarnoch, son of John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder and Catherine Campbell.1

John MacGregor of Glencarnoch, younger1

     John MacGregor of Glencarnoch, younger was the son of Robert MacGregor of Glencarnoch and Robina Cameron.2 He died in 1758 at Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, Canada, killed in action.2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Fraser's Highlanders.1 He fought in the Siege of Louisburg in 1758.1

Duncan MacGregor, 3rd of Glencarnoch1

     Duncan MacGregor, 3rd of Glencarnoch was born circa 1706.2 He was the son of John MacGregor of Glencarnoch in Balquhidder and Catherine Campbell.3 He married Beatrix MacNiven, daughter of David MacNiven.1 He died in February 1787.1
     He fought in the Jacobite Uprising in 1745, his heel being shot away at the Battle of Prestonpans.1 He held the position of Chieftain of the Children of the Mist from in 1758.1
