     Gillicattan 'Mor', 1st Captain of Clan Chattan died circa 1090.1
     He held the position of 1st Captain of the Clan Chattan from.1 The ‘duthus' of Gillichattan's race was the estate of Glenloy and Loch Arkaig where Torcastle was teh Chief's seat.1 ‘He was Servant of St. Chattan' and had the galley coat-of-arms. The meaning of the ‘Servant of St. Chattan' is that Gillichattan was the baillie or temporal leader of the Abbey lands of Ardchattan.1 He was living between 1058 and 1090.1

     Muirach, 4th Captain of Clan Chattan was the son of Gillicattan, 3rd Captain of Clan Chattan.2 He married unknown daughter of Calder, daughter of unknown, Thane of Calder.1 He died circa 1214, towards the close of the reign of William the Lion.1
     He was Parson at Kingousie, Scotland.1 He held the position of 4th Captain of Clan Chattan from.1 He was bred to the church.1 In 1173 he obtained a dispensation from the Pope (presumably to take a wife.)1
