Sir Cecil Edward Bingham was born on 7 December 1861.1 He was the son of Charles George Bingham, 4th Earl of Lucan and Lady Cecilia Catherine Gordon-Lennox.1 He married, firstly, Rose Ellinor Guthrie, daughter of James Alexander Guthrie, 4th of Craigie and Ellinor Stirling, on 28 June 1884.1 He married, secondly, Alys Elizabeth Carr, daughter of Colonel Henry Montgomery Carr, on 3 February 1911.1 He died on 31 May 1934 at age 72.1
     He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901.1 He was Senior Aide-de-Camp to HRH The Duke of Connnaught in 1903, during his Indian Tour.1 He was commanding officer of the 4th Cavalry Brigade in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 1st Life Guards.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was commanding officer of the 1st Cavalry Division in 1915.1 He was awarded the Commandeur, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was Colonel of the 2nd Life Guards in 1919.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.)1
