     Robert Stewart of St. Fort and Castle Stewart was born on 20 November 1743.2 He was the son of William Stewart and Christian Crie.3 He married Ann Stewart Balfour, daughter of Henry Balfour of Dunbog and Katherine Porterfield, in 1792.1,3 He died on 9 February 1801 at age 57.4
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service.3 He purchased Castle Stewart before 1783.3 He sold Castle Stewart before 1792.3
