Beville Granville Layard was born on 10 May 1813.1 He was the son of Reverend Brownlow Villiers Layard and Louisa Port.1 He married, firstly, Mary Anne Clark, daughter of Thomas Clark, on 10 August 1841.1 He married, secondly, Anna Maria Knowles, daughter of John Knowles, on 21 October 1847.1 He died on 21 September 1872 at age 59.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 39th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 26th Regiment.1 He was Chief Constable of the East Riding, Yorkshire.1

     Mary Anne Clark was the daughter of Thomas Clark.1 She married, firstly, Reverend Edmund Dowker.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Beville Granville Layard, son of Reverend Brownlow Villiers Layard and Louisa Port, on 10 August 1841.1 She died on 16 May 1847.1
     Her married name became Dowker.1 From 10 August 1841, her married name became Layard.1
