William Mure of Caldwell 2
     William Mure of Caldwell was born in 1718.3 He was the son of William Mure of Caldwell and Anne Steuart.1,3 He married Katherine Graham, daughter of James Graham, Lord Easdale.3 He died on 25 March 1776 at Caldwell, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Renfrewshire between 1742 and 1761.3 He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer [Scotland] in 1761.3 He was Lord Rector of Glasgow University between 1764 and 1765.3

     Mary Laura Florence Mure was the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Mure of Caldwell and Hon. Constance Elizabeth Wyndham.2,3 She married Sir Spencer John Portal, 4th Bt., son of Sir Wyndham Spencer Portal, 1st Bt. and Mary Jane Beach, on 4 December 1890.1 She died on 4 April 1932.1
     From 4 December 1890, her married name became Portal.1
