Edward Joseph Ridgway Connolly was born on 25 April 1829.1 He was the son of General William Hallett Connolly and Sarah Hewett.1 He was baptised on 8 July 1829 at St. Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, Kent, England. He married Eliza Frances Gunnell, daughter of George James Gunnell and Matilda Anna Wood, in 1862 at Kensington, London, England.1 He died in 1903.
     He was commissioned with the rank of Colonel Commandant, in the service of the Royal Marines Light Infantry.
