     Janet Delahoy Lawrie is the daughter of Thomas Lawrie.² She married Hon. Alick Laidlaw Buchanan-Smith, son of Alick Drummond Buchanan-Smith, Baron Balerno and Mary Kathleen Smith, on 17 August 1956.¹
     From 17 August 1956, her married name became Buchanan-Smith. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1993.¹ She lived in 2003 at Cockeden, Cockburn, Balerno, Midlothian, Scotland.¹
