     Lt.-Col. Lewis Stanton Starkey was born on 22 July 1906.2 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Lewis Edward Starkey and Mary Kathleen Starkey.2 He married, firstly, Clare Désirée Blow, daughter of Detmar Jellings Blow and Winifred Gertrude Tollemache, on 14 June 1944.2 He married, secondly, Lady Georgiana Mary Curzon, daughter of Francis Richard Henry Penn Curzon, 5th Earl Howe and Mary Curzon, on 1 November 1957.2 He died on 5 September 1975 at age 69.2
     Lt.-Col. Lewis Stanton Starkey usually went by his middle name of Stanton.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He was commissioned in 1927 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Grenadier Guards.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1944.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He was commander of the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards between 1944 and 1945.2 He lived at Huttons Ambo Hall, York, Yorkshire, England.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) between 1965 and 1968.2
