     John Whitmore was born on 8 September 1845.1 He was the son of Major George St. Vincent Whitmore and Isabella Maxwell Stoddart.2 He married Clara Roach, daughter of Michael Roach, on 22 May 1901.1 He died on 17 May 1904 at age 58.1
     He was educated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of Judge, Indian Civil Service.1

     Clara Roach was the daughter of Michael Roach.2 She married John Whitmore, son of Major George St. Vincent Whitmore and Isabella Maxwell Stoddart, on 22 May 1901.1 She died on 29 November 1948.1
     From 22 May 1901, her married name became Whitmore.

George Montagu John Llewelyn Whitmore1

     George Montagu John Llewelyn Whitmore was born on 31 July 1903.1 He was the son of John Whitmore and Clara Roach.2 He married Pamela Mary London, daughter of Walter London, on 5 January 1954.1 He died on 22 September 1964 at age 61.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1925 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1927 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in 1940 in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 In 1944 he inherited the Lower Slaughter estate from Eva, widow of his cousin Edmund Henry Whitmore.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Gloucestershire in 1956.1
