     Terence Wilder Gay-French was born in 1914 at London, England.¹ He was the son of John Gay-French and Eleanor May Pipe-Wolferstan.¹ He married Kathleen Oldfield, daughter of Francis William F. Oldfield and Mabel Powell, on 21 December 1938 at Goodstone, Faversham, Kent, England.¹ He died on 11 March 1940 at Malta, killed in an air crash whilst serving on H.M.S. Glorious.¹
