     Henry Robert Crofton was born on 5 April 1821 at Ireland.1 He was the son of Duke Crofton and Alicia Jones.1 He married Elizabeth Singer, daughter of Most Rev. & Rt. Hon. Joseph Henderson Singer and Mary Crofton, on 13 April 1850.1 He died circa 16 November 1857, at sea, off Calcutta.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.1

     He gained the rank of Captain in the 52nd Madras Infantry, Indian Army.1
