     Lt.-Col. Brian Frederick Montgomery was born on 18 October 1903.1 He was the son of Rt. Rev. Henry Hutchinson Montgomery and Maud Farrar.1 He married Barbara Peggy Hincks on 1 April 1944.1 He died on 14 May 1989 at age 85.1
     He was educated at St. Paul's School, London, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He retired from the military in 1923, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Lieutenant-Colonel between 1927 and 1933, King's African Rifles.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1935 and 1947 in the Baluch Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1942.1 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1947 and 1970.1 He wrote the book A Field Marshal in the Family, published 1973.1 He wrote the book Shenton of Singapore.1 He wrote the book Monty's Grandfather, published 1984.1
