     Francis Charles Joseph Vane-Tempest was born on 25 January 1911.1 He was the son of Major Francis Adolphus Vane-Tempest and Gertrude Magdalen Elliot.1 He married, firstly, Pamela Mary Abel-Smith, daughter of Major Edwin Philip Abel-Smith and Gertrude Mary Hodgson, on 2 June 1931.1 He married, secondly, Penelope Joan Bevan, daughter of Edmund Henry Bevan and Hon. Joan Mary Conyers Norton, in 1935.1 He and Penelope Joan Bevan were divorced in 1950.1 He died on 5 October 1994 at age 83.1
     He was educated at Downside School, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1 His marriage to Pamela Mary Abel-Smith was annulled in 1935.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves.1

     Pamela Mary Abel-Smith was born on 11 January 1900.2 She was the daughter of Major Edwin Philip Abel-Smith and Gertrude Mary Hodgson.1,2 She married Francis Charles Joseph Vane-Tempest, son of Major Francis Adolphus Vane-Tempest and Gertrude Magdalen Elliot, on 2 June 1931.1 She died on 17 December 1953 at age 53.1
     Her married name became Vane-Tempest. Her marriage to Francis Charles Joseph Vane-Tempest was annulled in 1935.1

     Major Edwin Philip Abel-Smith was born on 4 November 1865.2 He was the son of Reverend Albert Smith.3 He married, firstly, Catherine Morforwyn Lloyd-Verney, daughter of George Hope Lloyd-Verney and Harriet Julia Morforwyn Hinde, on 1 November 1888 at Malabar, Bombay, IndiaG.3,4 He married, secondly, Gertrude Mary Hodgson on 16 July 1895 at Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, EnglandG.2,4 He died on 31 December 1936 at age 71 at Kensington, London, EnglandG.3,4
     He lived at Great Kimble House, Prince's Risborough, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He lived at Wendover, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.5 He was given the name of Edwin Philip Smith at birth.3 In 1922 his name was legally changed to Edwin Philip Abel-Smith.2

     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)4 He lived at Hilston Park, Monmouthshire, WalesG.1
