     Admiral Sir William Hargood was born on 6 May 1762.1 He was the son of Hezekiah Hargood.1 He married Maria Cocks, daughter of Thomas Somers Cocks and Ann Thistlethwayte, in 1811.1 He died on 11 September 1839 at age 77, without issue.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1815.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1831.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Plymouth between 1833 and 1836.1
