     Edward Strachey, 2nd Baron Strachie was born on 13 January 1882.1 He was the son of Edward Strachey, 1st Baron Strachie and Constance Braham.1 He married, firstly, Violet Mary Yea Rogers, daughter of Walter Lacy Rogers, on 14 March 1933.1 He died on 17 May 1973 at age 91.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He retired from the military in 1900, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, late of the 4th Battalion, Oxfordshire Light Infantry.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1902 in the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset in 1903.1 He was Assistant Secretary to 1st Lord of the Admiralty in 1909.1 He was Private Secretary to Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Agriculture and Fisheries between 1910 and 1911.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1911 in the 4th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War, in Mesopotamia, Persia and India.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1919.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Strachie, of Sutton Court, co. Somerset [U.K., 1911] on 25 July 1936.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Strachey, of Sutton Court [U.K., 1801] on 25 July 1936.1
