     William Rookes Crompton-Stansfield was born on 3 August 1790.1 He was the son of Joshua Crompton and Anna Maria Rookes.1 He married Emma Markham, daughter of William Markham and Elizabeth Bowles.1 He died on 5 December 1871 at age 81.1
     He was given the name of William Rookes Crompton at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Huddersfield between 1837 and 1853, after his election in 1852 was declared void due to bribery and treating.1
