     Lt.-Col. Philip Mathew Magnay was born on 28 September 1885.1 He was the son of Sir William Magnay, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Susannah Soulsby.1 He died on 13 April 1917 at age 31, killed in action.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 5th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.1
