     Lt.-Col. Hon. Cuthbert James was born on 29 February 1872.2 He was the son of Walter Henry James, 2nd Baron Northbourne of Betteshanger and Edith Emeline Mary Lane.2 He married Florence Marion Packe, daughter of Hussey Packe and Lady Alice Wodehouse, on 10 August 1905.2 He died on 21 July 1930 at age 58.2
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Marines.2 He gained the rank of Major in the East Surrey Regiment.2 He was Assistant Finance Secretary, Egyptian Army.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bromley between 1919 and 1930.2 He was Assistant Civil Secretary, Sudan Government.2

     Julia Mary Soloman was the daughter of Charles Soloman.1 She married Major Thomas James, son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Cuthbert James and Florence Marion Packe, on 4 December 1940.1 She and Major Thomas James were divorced in 1953.1 She died in 1974.1
     Her married name became James.

     Walter John James, 3rd Baron Northbourne of Betteshanger was born on 2 September 1869.2 He was the son of Walter Henry James, 2nd Baron Northbourne of Betteshanger and Edith Emeline Mary Lane.3 He married Laura Gwenllian Rice, daughter of Admiral Sir Ernest Rice and Laura Marianne York, on 4 October 1894.2 He died on 22 December 1932 at age 63.2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal NAval Volunteer Reserve.2 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet James, of Langley Hall and Denford Court, co. Berks [G.B., 1791] on 27 January 1923.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Northbourne of Betteshanger, co. Kent and of Jarrow Grange, co. Palatine of Durham [U.K., 1884] on 27 January 1923.2
