     Hon. Julia Dorothy Cornwallis was born in 1887. She was the daughter of Fiennes Stanley Wykeham Cornwallis, 1st Baron Cornwallis and Mabel Leigh.2 She married Captain Hon. Sir Archibald Douglas Cochrane, son of Lt.-Col. Thomas Horatio Arthur Ernest Cochrane, 1st Baron Cochrane of Cults and Lady Gertrude Julia Georgina Boyle, on 6 January 1926.1 She died on 15 June 1971.2
     Her married name became Cochrane. She was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)1 She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1952.1

     Hon. Vere Mabel Cornwallis was born in 1889. She was the daughter of Fiennes Stanley Wykeham Cornwallis, 1st Baron Cornwallis and Mabel Leigh.2 She married Sir Samuel Strang Steel of Philiphaugh, 1st Bt., son of William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh and Rosetta Barber, on 3 August 1910.2 She died on 8 October 1964.1
     From 3 August 1910, her married name became Strang Steel.

     Sir Samuel Strang Steel of Philiphaugh, 1st Bt. was born on 1 August 1882.1 He was the son of William Strang Steel of Philiphaugh and Rosetta Barber.2 He married Hon. Vere Mabel Cornwallis, daughter of Fiennes Stanley Wykeham Cornwallis, 1st Baron Cornwallis and Mabel Leigh, on 3 August 1910.1 He died on 14 August 1961 at age 79.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Middle Temple entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He gained the rank of First World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Lothians and Border Horse Yeomanry.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) 9unionist) for Ashford, Kent between 1918 and 1929.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Selkirk.1 He was member of hte Forestry Commission in 1932.1 He was created 1st Baronet Strang Steel, of Philiphaugh, Selkirk [U.K.] on 2 July 1938.1 He was Lieutenant of the Royal Company of Archers.1 He was director of the Bank of Scotland.1 He was director of the LNER before 1948.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Selkirk between 1948 and 1958.1

     Fiennes Neil Wykeham Cornwallis, 3rd Baron Cornwallis was born on 29 June 1921.1 He was the son of Colonel Wykeham Stanley Cornwallis, 2nd Baron Cornwallis and Cecily Etha Mary Walker.1 He married, firstly, Judith Lacy Scott, daughter of Lt.-Col. Geoffrey Lacy Scott, on 17 October 1942.1 He and Judith Lacy Scott were divorced in 1948.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Jean Russell Landale, daughter of Captain Henderson Russell Landale and Gladys Rose Phipps, on 1 June 1951.1 He married, thirdly, Stephanie (?) on 6 April 2002.3 He died on 5 March 2010 at age 88.
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1940 in the Coldstream Guards.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1944, when he was invalided.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1963.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent in 1976.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Cornwallis, of Linton, co.
