     Colonel Alan Coulston Gardner was born illegitimately on 19 November 1842.1 He was the son of Alan Legge Gardner, 3rd Baron Gardner and Julia Sarah Hayfield Fortescue.2,3 He married Hon. Nora Beatrice Blyth, daughter of James Blyth, 1st Baron Blyth and Eliza Mooney, on 29 April 1885.4 He died on 25 December 1907 at age 65.
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)5 He gained the rank of office in the 14th King's Hussars.1 He gained the rank of office in the 11th Hussars.1 He fought in the Anglo-Zulu Wars in 1879.1 He lived at Clearwell Castle, Coleford, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.4

     Hon. Nora Beatrice Blyth was born in 1866. She was the daughter of James Blyth, 1st Baron Blyth and Eliza Mooney.1 She married Colonel Alan Coulston Gardner, son of Alan Legge Gardner, 3rd Baron Gardner and Julia Sarah Hayfield Fortescue, on 29 April 1885.1 She died on 5 January 1944.1
     Her married name became Gardner.

     James Blyth, 1st Baron Blyth was born on 10 September 1841.1 He was the son of James Blyth and Caroline Gilbey.1 He was baptised at Chelmsford, Essex, EnglandG.1 He married Eliza Mooney, daughter of William Mooney, on 29 August 1865 at St. Mary's, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He died on 8 February 1925 at age 83 at 33 Portland Place, London, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 11 February 1925 at Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1
     He was a director of W. & A. Gilbey & Company Ltd.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hertfordshire.2 He was created 1st Baronet Blyth [U.K.] on 30 August 1895.1 He was appointed Grand Cross, Civil Order of the Merito Agricola Portuguese.1 He was appointed Order of the Medjidie.1 He was appointed Order of Leopold of Belgium.1 He was created 1st Baron Blyth, of Blythswood, Stansted-Mountfitchet, Essex [U.K.] on 19 July 1907.1
