Penelope Ann O'Neill, daughter of Terence Marne O'Neill, Baron O'Neill of the Maine and Katherine Jean Whitaker, on 9 May 1970.2 He and Hon. Penelope Ann O'Neill were divorced in 1983.2 He married, secondly, Veronica Susan Scott, daughter of Lt.-Col. Eric Surtees Scott and Rose Anne Stewart, on 1 June 1994.1
     He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1992.2 He lived in 2003 at Wadmill Farm, Stour Row, Shaftesbury, Dorset, EnglandG.2

     Christopher Bartle Hugh Scott, 12th of Gala was born on 3 October 1924.1 He was the son of Philip Beaumont Frere and Jean Winifred Mary Makdougall Scott-Makdougall.2 He married Anne Margaret D'Arcy Kerr, daughter of Henry Francis Hobart Kerr and Gertrude Mary Anthony, on 16 September 1948.1 He died on 13 April 1997 at age 72.1
     He was given the name of Christopher Bartle Hugh Frere at birth.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 In 1941 his name was legally changed to Christopher Bartle Hugh Scott.1 He graduated from King's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was awarded the Knight of Honour and Devotion, Sovereign Military Order of Malta on 27 November 1957.1

     Philip Beaumont Frere was born on 11 July 1897.2 He was the son of Eustace Corrie Frere and Marion Edith Grant.2,3 He married, firstly, Jean Winifred Mary Makdougall Scott-Makdougall, daughter of Hugh James Elibank Scott-Makdougall of Makerstoun and Agnes Jenkinson, on 29 April 1922.1 He and Jean Winifred Mary Makdougall Scott-Makdougall were divorced in July 1943.1 He married, secondly, Victoria Mary Enid Ann Dugdale, daughter of Colonel Frank Dugdale and Lady Eva Sarah Louise Greville, in 1944. He died on 6 December 1981 at age 84.1
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was senior partner of Frere Cholmeley.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.)1 He lived at The Charterhouse, London, EnglandG.1

     Jean Winifred Mary Makdougall Scott-Makdougall was born on 5 February 1897.1 She was the daughter of Hugh James Elibank Scott-Makdougall of Makerstoun and Agnes Jenkinson.2 She married Philip Beaumont Frere, son of Eustace Corrie Frere and Marion Edith Grant, on 29 April 1922.1 She and Philip Beaumont Frere were divorced in July 1943.1 She died on 11 May 1990 at age 93.1
     From 29 April 1922, her married name became Frere.

     Hugh James Elibank Scott-Makdougall of Makerstoun was born on 1 October 1861.1 He was the son of Hugh Scott, 9th of Gala and Elizabeth Isabella Johnstone-Gordon.2 He married Agnes Jenkinson, daughter of Henry Jenkinson, on 5 February 1893.1 He died on 4 May 1934 at age 72.1
     He was given the name of Hugh James Elibank Scott at birth.1 He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Haddington Artillery Militia.1 He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1888 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 His name was legally changed to Hugh James Elibank Scott of Makerstoun.1 In 1890 his name was legally changed to Hugh James Elibank Scott-Makdougall of Makerstoun on succeeding to Makerstoun from his first cousin twice removed.1
