Maldred, Lord of Allerdale was born circa 1015 at Dunbar, Scotland.3 He was the son of Crinan of Atholl, Mormaer of Atholl and Bethoc of Scotland.2 He married Ealdgyth of Northumberland, daughter of Uhtred, Earl of Northumberland and Ælfgifu (?), circa 1036.3 He died in 1045, killed in action, while attempting to avenge the murder of his brother by Macbeth.2
