     Auguste Birnbaum was born on 9 November 1837. She was the daughter of Karl Birnbaum and Maria Sargany.1 She married Friedrich Wilhelm Prinz von Hanau und Horowitz, son of Friedrich Wilhelm I Kurfürst von Hessen-Kassel and Getrud Prinzessin von Hanau und Horowitz, on 23 September 1856 at St. James's, London, England.1 She and Friedrich Wilhelm Prinz von Hanau und Horowitz were divorced before 1875.1 She died on 29 June 1862 at age 24 at Cannstadt, Germany.1
     Her married name became von Hanau.

     Friedrich August von Hanau, 5th Prinz von Hanau und Horowitz was born on 14 April 1864 at Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany.2 He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm Prinz von Hanau und Horowitz and Auguste Birnbaum.1 He married, firstly, Hildegard Gräfin Almásy von Zsadány, daughter of Tassilo Graf Almásy von Zsadány and Anna Fiath Baronin von Eörmenyes und Karonsebes, on 6 July 1899 at Vienna, Austria.2 He and Hildegard Gräfin Almásy von Zsadány were divorced on 13 March 1922.2 He married, secondly, Ernestine Detzer on 12 December 1932.2 He died on 26 April 1940 at age 76 at Brünn, Germany.2
     Friedrich August von Hanau, 5th Prinz von Hanau und Horowitz gained the title of 5th Prinz Friedrich August von Hanau und Horowitz.1 He gained the title of Graf von Schaumburg.1
