She is the daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm I Kurfürst von Hessen-Kassel and Getrud Prinzessin von Hanau und Horowitz.1 She married Ferdinand Maximilian III Fürst zu Ysenburg und Büdingen on 17 July 1849 at Wilhelmshöhe, Germany. She died on 18 September 1887 at age 57.
     Auguste Marie Gertrude Prinzessin von Hanau und Horowitz gained the title of Prinzessin von Hanau und Horowitz.1 She gained the title of Gräfin von Schaumburg.1
