     John Granville Thynne was born on 15 March 1865.1 He was the son of Reverend Arthur Christopher Thynne and Gwenllian Elizabeth Fanny Isabel Kendall.1 He married Mary Elizabeth Linklater, daughter of William Linklater, in 1887.1 He died on 6 November 1943 at age 78.1
     John Granville Thynne fought in the Riels Rebellion in 1885, on special duty as a scout.1
