     Ian Basil Aird was born on 4 January 1905.1 He was the son of Malcolm Rucker Aird and Nellie Margaret Dummett.1 He died on 17 December 1944 at age 39, killed while on active service.1
     Ian Basil Aird gained the rank of Temporary Major in the service of the 4th Company, London Yeomanry (Territorial Army).1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1
